Restraint:
At the end of any orthodontic treatment, a retainer is mandatory to maintain the result obtained.
It can take the form of a fixed retainer: it is a small wire that is glued to the back of the teeth and holds the teeth in their position.
It can also be a mobile contention, by a transparent gutter that is worn every night.
This restraint lasts for life.
If it is not worn, the teeth can move again quite quickly, and this is due to the forces that are continuously exerted on the teeth by the muscles of the face, tongue and lips.
